North-East India has a unique socio-economic structure with associated potential and challenges. As North-East surges forward as the new engine of growth for the country, there is an urgent need for comprehensive policy to ensure inclusive and sustainable development of the region. It is in this context that North-East Sustainable and Inclusive Development Summit (NESIDS) assumes special significance.
Both National Institute of Science Technology and Developmental Studies (NISTADS) and Kaziranga University have a strong initiative on policy development and policy advocacy for the north-east. The first NESIDS was organized during 26-28 April, 2018 at Kaziranga University jointly by NISTADS and Kaziranga University. The organizers plan to organize NESIDS every year on a focal theme.
The NESIDS-2019 will be the second in the series of NESIDS, with the broad theme of Bio-Economy for Sustainable and Inclusive Development of North-East with focus on biodiversity. The summit will aim at in-depth and comprehensive deliberations on challenges and strategies for achieving sustainable and inclusive development without compromising the rich biodiversity of North East.
